Friday, 3rd June 2005 - Blakes FC Match Report

A real game of 2 halfs, in the 1st half Ovenden was to respectfull giving them time on the ball and not winning our individual battles. It was not until they thought they was dead and buried that they started to play. At half time they was 3 down and would have been happy to keep it that way but even at 3 down the lads dint stop fighting and with 10 or so mins to go Danny popped up in the box and put away a tight shot. This brought a sence of belief about the team and from then whet on to dominate with chances from Gaz, Hoey and Joe. I cant even remember them having a serious shot in the second half and if they was 2 or 3 more minutes i believe they would have gone on to win the game. By far Ovendens best perfomace this season and if we can start every game like we ended that one there is no doubt in my mind we will stay up and stay up comfortably.

Player ratings:

Colin Conner:  8 Unlucky in the 1st half but exellent in the 2nd, but he needs to stop been a David James wanna be ha ha.

James Machon: 8 Again unlucky 1st half missing a few chances but made up for it in the second, played at the back and won everything.

Gareth Conner: 8 Turn the game on its arse when he came on, dint give anyone time on the ball and worked is ball off and was unlucky not to score. A contender for man of the match.

Martin Scully:  8 Again a shit 1st half. But solid as a rock second half not been beaten once. Played like a captin dint stop talking and belived it was possible to win even at 3 down.

Chris Hoey:  8 One of the few to have a good 1st half helping back alot and donig his thing going forward, missed a few chance but was there when it counted, good reactions for the goal.

Wayne Porter:  8 Had a hard 1st half, ran them ragged dint give anybody time and his hardwork help to tire them out for the second half.

Danny Conner:  8 Had a much better game that last week. Made a few chances but in the second half kinda neglected his defensive responsibilitys but needed ta push up and it paid off.

Jo Gibbs: 8 Played his best game yet her came on and his 1st to tackle was alittle poor but fuck it, becauce from there he fort back and won the ball and set up Hoes goal. Did well to call sub after he ran is little afro ha ha.

Goals: 

Danny:  I got the ball from a kick in and did a Ducky i just walked in to the box and  dint have a clue what to do because off all the time i was given, so i just hit it and got luky.

Martin: A good move played from the back by Martin to Hoey then Hoey took the ball in and layed a sweat ball of setting up Martin for the shot and the rest is history because we all have been on the end of one of his shots.
